چکیده

The standard technique for LTL model checking (M φ) consists on translating the negation of the LTL specification, φ, into a Büchi automaton Aφ, and then on checking if the product M Aφ has an empty language. The efforts to maximize the efficiency of this process have so far concentrated on developing translation algorithms producing Büchi automata which are “as small as possible”, under the implicit conjecture that this fact should make the final product smaller. In this paper we build on a different conjecture and present an alternative approach in which we generate instead Büchi automata which are “as deterministic as possible”, in the sense that we try to reduce as much as we are able to the presence of non-deterministic decision states in Aφ. We motivate our choice and present some empirical tests to support this approach.

Beyond Hyper-Minimisation---Minimising DBAs and DPAs is NP-Complete

In this paper we study the problem of minimising deterministic automata over finite and infinite words. Deterministic finite automata are the simplest devices to recognise regular languages, and deterministic Büchi, Co-Büchi, and parity automata play a similar role in the recognition of ω-regular languages. While it is well known that the minimisation of deterministic finite and weak automata i...

Typeness for ω-Regular Automata

We introduce and study three notions of typeness for automata on infinite words. For an acceptance-condition class γ (that is, γ is weak, Büchi, co-Büchi, Rabin, or Streett), deterministic γ-typeness asks for the existence of an equivalent γ-automaton on the same deterministic structure, nondeterministic γ-typeness asks for the existence of an equivalent γ-automaton on the same structure, and γ...

Minimisation of Deterministic Parity and Buchi Automata and Relative Minimisation of Deterministic Finite Automata

MoChiBA: Probabilistic LTL Model Checking Using Limit-Deterministic Büchi Automata

The limiting factor for quantitative analysis of Markov decision processes (MDP) against specifications given in linear temporal logic (LTL) is the size of the generated product. As recently shown, a special subclass of limit-deterministic Büchi automata (LDBA) can replace deterministic Rabin automata in quantitative probabilistic model checking algorithms. We present an extension of PRISM for ...
